the mother-in-law quilt + snugglers for me!

for this quilt i used a real-life pattern--tula pink's "nest" pattern (although i used her neptune fabric as opposed to the actual nest fabric). it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be--actually it went pretty fast and i was done with the top in two days. however it sat on the backburner for a long time while i was trying to finish my DS quilt. but now it's done and i can cross this off my to-do list!

and of course, more of those easy and cute snugglers for my little boy!

snuggler

(first of all, sorry for the crappy picture. my camera isn't the greatest.)
of all the projects in my new book, i made this little wonder first for my friend because i think this is such a great idea. a swaddling blanket that stays swaddled--what could be better? after how easy making this was i'm definitely going to be making my little boy several. as soon as my to do list becomes a bit more manageable. ha. like that's ever going to happen.

it's friday i'm in love

i just received this in the mail from amazon today:

yay! i can't wait to make baby stuff for my new little guy (not to mention my hoards of preggie friends). i also got my copy of "the parent trap" on dvd in the box--i've been wanting it for so long. now i'm going to make gingersnaps, watch my movie, and enjoy the silence until my kids come home from co-op. ahh.....

i came so close

i'd really hoped to be able to post that i finally finished my giant DSQ knock-off, but alas, five stubborn inches of unfinished binding (curse my pregnant inability to calculate anything correctly) prevent me from honestly saying that i'm done.

still....close enough to post pictures!!!

the top...voila!

the cursed five inches...

the back--i love it as much as the front!

a close up of the quilting stitch...i used a meandering pattern because it was easy. plus it covers a multitude of screw ups...

all in all i'm pretty dang proud of myself. i think it looks great for my first quilt, and i love that i'll have it finished before my husband gets back from his work trip. i love surprising him with new things when he gets in from out of town. also it just feels great in general to have one thing crossed off my ginormous to-do list. yay for me!!
