After a lot of hemming and hawing, I finally decided that my original idea for the Fab Little Quilt swap was kind of lame. I was getting too boxed in by ideas and styles that are just. not. me. So I said to heck with it, I'm going to pick weird colors that I like and do some improv work and see how it comes out. Here's what I did today:
What do you think? Meh? Awesome? Personally I love it, although YET AGAIN I've gotten a mute partner so I have no idea what she'll think. I don't know how I feel about parting with my last scraps of Mendocino for a partner who isn't into this, so I really hope she'll let me know either way. I, as some of you might know, have no problem keeping a quilt I love and sending off one that I don't care too much about if my partner doesn't let me know what they think. :)

I think that's a good attitude. At least one of you is happy then. Personally, I would be thrilled to receive your new Mendocino mini, but I'm not in the swap unfortunately.
I love those colors! I think that a quiet partner means that they will love anything you make for them. How's that for a theory?
Well, I love it, so if I'm your partner, send it on to me! I know what you mean about getting silent partners. I've had a couple that made absolutely no comments in the group pool at all, and another who never said thanks. But I've also had some great partners, so I'm trying to remember that's what it's all about . . .
This is fabulous. I love it! I agree that since it is a rare and loved fabric, you shouldn't send it on if your partner's not in love with it.
I love the colors!
I've never done a swap, though, so I don't have much to say about silent partners. (Get it...don't have much to say...oh nevermind.)
xo,
Kate
I'm sorry you got another silent partner. I have a good stitching friend that quit doing swaps because every time she got a partner she never heard from them. It seems weird that one would sign up for a swap and then keep silent. Do what you love! You are an awesome artist and you need to go it!
I love it! Swaps can be tricky sometimes, just do what feels right to you. I am still lovin my mini from the 80's swap and I am sure your partner will love this one too.
i think this is AMAZING!! it's so hard to cut into those prized fabrics...yet you made something so bold. this might be my favorite thing i've seen with mendocino! wish i was your partner :o)
I'm pretty sure your partner will love it! Silent partners make me stress, though, so I understand your pain! Like I said on flickr, I love the ruler print in combination with the Mendocino. Lovely!
