i can't just pick ONE.

Remember when I said that one of my goals this year was to pick one pin a month to do something with?

Here's that cake from my niece's birthday, photo courtesy of my sister-in-law:

I think it came out pretty good, especially considering you can't be sure what you'll get until someone cuts into it--yikes. Anyway, I made vanilla cake, filled it with blackberry jam, and frosted it with buttercream. Not really sure about the taste but in this case, it was mostly about the looks. :) And good grief were those sprinkles a pain in the butt to get onto the sides of the cake! Ha.

Well, something about deciding to pick ONE pin made me incapable of just picking one. So I also made this bird feeder from this tutorial I'd pinned awhile back.

I have to say, I did have to make quite a few changes to Erin's method. I couldn't find the bolt she specified, so I used a threaded rod and bought a decorative cap for the bottom to hold the bowl in place. I also didn't want to mess with the knot she did, so I bought a coupler and attached the eye hook bolt to the top. Et voila! Bird feeder for under 10 bucks. Plus, I like they way it looks like the old-school hanging gondolas from Disneyland.

And lastly, since my first nephew is soon to make his arrival, I also recreated this penguin that my sister-in-law recommended I  make ages ago, and for considerably less than the $65 tag on the original.

Who knows what I'll get done in February? I guess we'll find out.

That cake was gorgeous and I almost didn't even want to cut into it! Trust me when I say it tasted as good as it looked!

Also, so happy about Ephraim's first little stuffed animal of his own :) I was seriously so surprised when I opened that. Can't believe you remembered it! hahahaha

Hey, three pins are better than one! Your cake turned out so pretty :) I definitely didn't finish Hobbes. But he has a head and a body! Just have to make his arms and legs and sew him together...

All pretty! Especially enjoying your bird feeder. I wanted to make a sprinkle-encrusted cake for Liam's birthday and they he went and decided he wanted blueberry cream cheese bread instead of cake. Weird child.
